Rain or shine. Translation in Hmong and Spanish will be provided.
This is a series of hands-on workshops where you will learn to build a complete small farm cooler, at a low cost ($1800) as well as a vegetable wash and pack area. The instructors are Daniel Robleto of the Farley Center and Dennis Fiser of the Madison Area CSA Coalition.
On Friday, May 20 from 9-5 the group will build the wooden frame of the cooler (feel free to bring your tools). On Sunday May 22 from 9-1 we will finish building the cooler and have an overview of the construction process. These are working sessions for farmers who want to learn the process, and registration is required. RSVP to Dennis Fiser at 608-226-0300 or dennis@macsac.org.
This workshop is part of Gaining Ground in Wisconsin, a project of Community Groundworks and the Farley Center for Peace, Justice, and Sustainability. It was supported by the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, USDA Grant #2010-03096.
