Join Bob Klebba from Morningwood Farms for a discussion on how to develop automated and affordable greenhouse control systems for your farm or nursery operation. Greenhouse systems can range from simple single-stage line voltage thermostats to multi-stage environmental control systems incorporating other environmental inputs in addition to temperature. However, a programmable home thermostat-based system provides the most of the flexibility in commercial controllers starting at 5 times the price, and it typically will cost only a fraction more than a simple 2-stage line voltage thermostat.
We will discuss how to work with a programmable home thermostat, how to implement the line voltage controls and how to tweak the system for various greenhouse configurations. We will also discuss how a scheduled temperature profile improves plant growth and quality.
