Join Seed Savers Exchange for cider pressing, pumpkin carving, hayrides, live music and tours of our historic orchards during the Annual Harvest Festival at Heritage Farm.
Local apple enthusiast Steve McCargar will be manning the cider press again this year to pump out gallons of delicious cider from apples picked right here at Heritage Farm. And if you want to make a weekend of it, be sure to stick around for the Seed to Seed Workshop on Sunday (details below). Area chefs will also be participating in a soup cook-off, using a secret ingredient grown at Heritage Farm. It could be kale, ground cherries, or even apples. Chefs compete for the coveted Harvest Festival trophy and for local food banks (a portion of the proceeds from the tasting will be donated).
“This is always a fun family event,” said Seed Savers Exchange co-founder Diane Ott Whealy. “The fall colors at Heritage Farm are glorious this time of the year and we have a variety of activities planned to make everyone’s visit an enjoyable one.”
This event is free and open to the public.
