“The Greenhorns: New Farmers in America,” a new film by Severine von Tscharner
Fleming, will be shown on Tues., Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Fitchburg Public Library,
5530 Lacy Rd., Fitchburg. Hosted by Fitchburg Fields, and co-sponsored by The Madison Area CSA Coalition, the event is free and open to the public.
The Greenhorns documentary film, completed after almost 3 years in production,
explores the lives of America’s young farming community – its spirit, practices, and
needs. It is the filmmaker’s hope that by broadcasting the stories and voices of these
young farmers, we can build the case for those considering a career in agriculture – to
embolden them, to entice them, and to recruit them into farming.
Small group discussions and an introduction to the City of Fitchburg’s land matching
program for would-be farmers will follow the film. For more info, contact Fitchburg
Fields at www.fitchburgfields.org, or 608-223-9571.
