Partner Shares
The application period has ended for the 2013 growing season. You are welcome to complete an application in order to be added to our waiting list!
We believe everyone has a right to fresh, nutritious food!
The Partner Shares program makes joining a CSA farm more affordable for everyone. We believe that farmers should receive a fair price for their produce, but for some of us, that cost in a single payment in the spring is too much.
Partner Shares is a cost-sharing program that provides financial assistance to limited-income households for purchasing CSA vegetable shares. For eligible households, FairShare will contribute up to $300 toward farm shares from FairShare-endorsed CSA farms. Only on-farm produced products are eligible.
The participants take on the responsibilities of being a CSA member of the farm of their choice and work with us to create an affordable payment plan for the remaining cost of their share.
FairShare CSA Coalition fundraises through local events such as Bike the Barns, grants, and donations from individuals and organizations to offer this cost-sharing opportunity to our community. In 2011, we increased enrollment into this program by 40 percent, and hope to be able to continue to support more families in the future.
Since the funding and availability of CSA shares are limited, we request that completed Partner Shares applications be submitted by April 15 for the 2013 growing season. However, we encourage all interested households to contact us to check on availability throughout the year. Requests for Partner Shares funding assistance are granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Partner Shares can also help process your Quest, SNAP, or food stamp benefits to pay for your farm membership.
