CSA is so much more than a box of groceries. As a result, it’s difficult to compare farms and shares based on price. When you think about the value of your CSA share, there’s a lot to consider.
Buying directly from the farm means you are buying the very freshest, tastiest food. Vegetable varieties are grown for quality, flavor and diversity – not shelf life.
CSA helps you learn where your food comes from, how it’s grown, and how to prepare it. Farms include recipes in their newsletters that help even seasoned cooks expand their repertoire.
Becoming a CSA member means you’re joining a community of conscious eaters. Invest in good, clean food and the creation of a safe, community-based food system in Southern Wisconsin!
When you join a CSA, you keep your food dollars local and support a small family farm.
FairShare’s Partner Shares program offers many options to help limited-income households afford to join a farm. Food stamp benefits, assistance funds and payment plans may be available for your family. Area health insurers – Dean Health, GHC-SCW, Physicians Plus, and Unity Health – offer CSA rebates of $100 for individuals and $200 for families.
