The Circle M Mission is to care well for our beautiful little piece of Driftless area earth and share that beauty with others – in the form of both food and farm life, feeding body and soul. To work toward those goals, we combine five months of CSA Produce Boxes, delivered every-other-week, with members-only Field-To-Table Dinners out at the farm. Our boxes are adventurous and beautiful, and our dinner evenings include educational garden walks, cooking instruction around the table and lots of entertainment provided by the chickens, goats, sheep, steers, ducks, hogs and dogs.
Farm and food are pretty much synonymous here at Circle M. We cultivate, we harvest, we eat. Farmer Kriss loves to cook and feeds the farm crew lunch every day from a harvest pulled from the fields that morning, so we’ve got lots of daily experience with the farm-to-table concept. For years our members asked us for more information on growing their own vegetables, for more recipes, for more tips about cooking with seasonal fresh food. So in 2015 we added on-farm dinners to our shares in an attempt to increase community and education built around the bounty of the gardens.
Every dinner includes a field walk with lots of opportunities to visit the animals and ask gardening questions, as well as enjoy the peaceful, simple pleasures of the farm and surrounding woods, river and prairie. We enjoy lively conversation over the meals, including cooking instruction, rural advocacy ponderings, and food philosophy. Our intent is to provide nourishing retreat, respite and renewal through sharing farm life as well as farm goods. To that end, we also host work-for-dinner days, farm festivals, woolcraft and wellness classes and birthday parties. We also run a bed-and-breakfast at the farmhouse for those looking for full immersion into the homestead life.
