We love building things, and we couldn’t say no when asked to head up a one of a kind farming project at Taliesin in the wonderful little town of Spring Green. With over 20 combined years of CSA and wholesale farming experience we have helped build and rebuild several farms. We just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to build a whole new kind of community farm from scratch. While we operate Fazenda Boa Terra as an independent organic vegetable farm, we have a much bigger job to do. Working with our community partners we are restoring the agricultural heritage of Taliesin as it was in Frank Lloyd Wright’s time. This means restoring many of the historical land use patterns, maintaining the gardens that the current students at architectural school work and learn in while producing the food that supplies the school kitchen. We also coordinate with staff at Taliesin in a combined effort to maintain, restore and improve the entire landscape of this 700 acre bit of paradise. Going beyond the farmland alone, this means restoring prairies, removing invasive species, maintaining the cultural and cutting gardens and collecting wild seeds from native plants for habitat improvement. As the farm develops we will put livestock back on the landscape, plant perennial fruit and nut crops and experiment with grains to grow a complete diet. This is a living laboratory and a place of learning, our project will never be finished as there will always be new crops, methods and models to experiment with. We will continue that tradition as we train young farmers, put on public workshops, teach cooking skills, experiment with economic and business models for the modern farm, try new crops and always search ways to be better stewards of this land and soil that sustains us all. We hope you will be a part of this amazing adventure.

Our CSA runs for 20 weeks, June to October. We offer Family Size Shares, Double Family Shares, Every Other Week Shares (family size shares picked up every 2 weeks), Farmers Market Shares (at farmers market locations only) and a Winter CSA Share option. With convenient Westside and Downtown pick up locations at EVP Coffee and Great Harvest Bread Co. we can serve most Madison CSA members. In addition to our pasture raised chicken we also offer add on shares for eggs and bread  produced by our partners. Find out more at Fazenda Boa Terra or check us out on Facebook.
