Dreaming of fresh, local asparagus and peas and rhubarb? It’s time to sign up for your CSA share! Come meet 35 CSA farmers who deliver their organic produce (and meat, honey, eggs and more!) to Madison at the 22nd Annual CSA Open House.
This free networking event goes from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 23 at Monona Terrace, 1 John Nolen Dr. in Madison. This is YOUR opportunity to talk face-to-face with CSA farmers who deliver to the greater Madison area (and beyond!). Learn how community supported agriculture works and get details about CSA shares and how to make the most of being a CSA member.
Free CSA Workshops:
At the Information Station, work with volunteers who will help you find deliveries near your house and answer your questions about CSA. Sample dishes from FairShare’s new cookbook and learn about Bike the Barns and Partner Shares.
Make the most of the CSA Open House by preparing ahead of time. Start by brainstorming what’s important to you about joining a CSA farm. Next step, research farm options, and then narrow your choices to your top farms. Focus on talking with those farmers at the CSA Open House.
All of FairShare’s produce farmers are certified organic or in-transition to organic certification. Meat farms must raise their animals in humane conditions. To find out if your health insurance company provides a CSA rebate ($100 for individuals, $200 for families), click here.
