Bike the Barns is a savor-the-day charity bicycle tour of local CSA farms fueled by delicious, local, organic food cooked up by area restaurateurs and caterers. All meals and snacks are included in your registration fee. You’ll bike through Wisconsin’s pastoral countryside, go on farm tours (some by tractor ride), and enjoy live music and craft beer at the After Party. Bike the Barns makes for a full, satisfying day.
“Riders tell us Bike the Barns is an excellent way to end the summer biking season,” says Erika Jones, FairShare’s executive director. “Registration typically fills by early to mid August, so please don’t delay in signing up. Sometimes people train all summer planning to ride Bike the Barns only to land on the waiting list when they try to sign up in September.”
The 10th annual Bike the Barns is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016. There are 2 routes: the 32-mile Radish Route (two farm stops) and the 55-mile Rubataga Route (four farm stops). THIS YEAR’S ROUTE IS VERY HILLY. To celebrate the ride’s 10th anniversary, we’re planning for music at every stop and other unique rider experiences along the way. The ride is fully supported with on-bike support riders and SAG vehicles.
Bike the Barns raises funds for Partner Shares, an assistance fund that helps low-income households afford to join a CSA farm and eat healthy, fresh produce. One hundred percent of pledges go to Partner Shares families. We encourage you to sign-up this year as a fundraising rider, and to raise $10 from 10 friends and family members to celebrate the ride’s 10th anniversary.
