Hoop House Production Workshop – April 14 Join veteran CSA farmers Barb and David Perkins and tour hoop houses at their peak of early season production.  They will talk about hoop house structures, planting plans, planting and transplanting, caring for the plants, harvest, irrigation, ventilation, special needs of hoop grown crops, trellising and lots more.  Vermont Valley Community Farm will produce hoop house crops for 250 Spring CSA shares this year. CSA Open House – A Success! 19th Annual CSA Open House! A special thanks our sponsors, Organic Valley, Wisconsin Public Radio, The Isthmus, The Willy St. Co-op, GHC-SCW, and Physicians Plus, as well as all of our farmers, volunteers, the entertainment, and community members that came out to make this year's Open House another success! 11 More CSA Farms join the Coalition The Madison Area CSA Coalition is proud to welcome eleven more high-quality CSA farms into the Coalition.   These new farms help diversify our coalition and expand the areas we cover in western and north-central Wisconsin.   Coulee View Farm in Wauzeka is our second meat only CSA farm.  They offer chickens, turkeys, ducks, hogs, lambs, and eggs through their CSA.  Stoney Acres Farm in Athens is a third generation family farm near Wausau that  produces vegetables, fruit and herbs; maple syrup; and grass-fed beef, pork, chickens, and eggs.  They also host amazing farm events during the year that attract…

Hoophouse Workshop at Scotch Hill Farm in Broadhead Thursday March 3rd from 9AM to 12PM at  Scotch Hill Farm in Broadhead.  Tony and Dela Ends at Scotch Hill Farm will be leading a hoophouse and season extension field day at their farm located at 910 Scotch Hill Rd, Brodhead, WI 53520.  Map Tony & Dela have had a CSA for 17 seasons. In 2010 they had 210 CSA  shares including fall shares.   Scotch Hill Farms has been experimenting with strategies to lengthen the growing season into the winter and get an early jump on spring crops that can be challenging to grow in the unpredictable early months. 2010 Annual Report Madison Area CSA Coalition's 2010 Annual Report is now available. Nineteen years ago, eight farms banded to together to provide local, seasonal food to 275 households in the Madison area. From this initial group, the Madison Area CSA Coalition has grown to nearly 50 farms serving over 9,000 households.
