Wisconsin Knows Organic! The UW-Madison Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems (CIAS) and DATCP recently published a fascinating look  at where Wisconsin stands in the national organic spotlight, and it turns out we are doing a stellar job. Wisconsin is home to over 1,200 organic farms, the 2nd-highest number in the country (California is 1st), and has more organic livestock farms than any other state. Seed Savers’ John Torgrimson Speaks in Madison Oct. 10 As seed companies consolidate and American agriculture moves toward fewer and fewer crops, the importance of preserving genetic diversity – and keeping that diversity in the hands of farmers and gardeners – has become increasingly important. Plough and Barrel CSA Dinner, Aug. 6 Artisan food, locally grown, expertly prepared! Join us for the third event in our Plough and Barrel CSA Dinner Series at The Coopers Tavern, 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, in celebration of 20 years of CSA. Meet our local farmers and enjoy a gourmet meal prepared from farm-fresh local ingredients. Bike the Barns Registration Closed; Volunteer! FairShare's Annual 'Bike the Barns' Heads West Sept. 16th! Registration is closed for the 6th Annual Bike the Barns, a spectacular fundraising bicycle ride through the Wisconsin countryside that features local farms and local food prepared by the Underground Food Collective.
