With women accounting for about 30% of farmers in the U.S., female fieldworkers make a huge impact on our agricultural system. The National Farmers Union Women's Conference this January celebrated these heroines while inspiring them to take action, make structural changes, and innovate their farms. Katy Dickson of Christensen Farm shares her experience, highlighting her top ten take-aways, including:
1. Exploring the steps, importance, and personal potential of running for office.
2. Envisioning new and creative ways that we can innovate on our farms and within our communities to connect people to local agriculture.
3. Networking with women from across the country and learning about agricultural issues facing them, their families, and their farms and businesses.
